Bits and pieces of the GFx RPG system

Last update: 21.10.2004: Added mass combat rules

Here are some bits and pieces of what I call the GFx or Gaming Framework X. This is pronounced as GEE-EFF-HEX and is based on the D6 system from West End Games. D6 is their trademark though, so I had to come up with a new name. When I started this, WEG did not have anything available that was suited for running a classical high-fantasy campaign. They do now and I can recommend their products, but I started sort of liking what I have here and don't want to start from scratch. I am in fact running a game with these rules and the ones that are still mostly in my head. This is meant to answer the inevitable "Why bother?" This and the fact that I rather like what I am doing. If anyone feels the same, feel free to email me.

Things to do

  1. Lots
  2. Make the wounds system work properly, especially the part about healing
  3. Develop some sane critical hit tables (RoleMaster has excellent ones. Let me quote: "Strike to foes head destroys brain and makes life difficult for the poor fool. Foe expires in a heap - immidiately.")
  4. Spells, more spells
This list is not exhaustive, more like priorities.

Tables

Rules

Wounds and healing (Consider this deprecated. Doesn't really work) (PDF)
A Short Introduction (Read this first) (PDF)
Mass combat rules (PDF). It mostly works, but I have to add the section about counting individual wounds in a unit and forming units of wounded soldiers.
